I’m Alex, a 3rd year student studying BSc (Hons) Strength & Conditioning at UCLAN in Preston. I enjoy bringing a research-based approach in to any sort of training. In the gym, I am all about strength and power.

My training currently consists of a periodised strength plan which will hopefully allow me to compete in 2018.

When I’m not training for strength, I incorporate a lot of Olympic Weightlifting in to my programming to optimise speed and power output.

Outside the gym, I quite enjoy gigs, weekends city breaks and above all…FIFA!

When training clients I put a large emphasis on posture and mobility. It is very important make sure they can perform movements safely and with good form before I programme their training. This ranges from myofascial release (foam rolling) to mobility drills for specific goals (squat depth, overhead mobility, etc.)

I enjoy any sort of strength training with clients and like to add strength\HIIT circuits into the end of a session where necessary.

In terms of fitness and training, I am inspired by the idea of a Strength: Bodyweight ratio. I like the fact that, regardless of size, you can be categorically judged on your strength. This, plus the specific programming and periodisation needed for strength training, gives me an enjoyable and rewarding project that is constantly in a state of improvement.
